Farley Aguilar

Farley Aguilar (b. 1980, Managua, Nicaragua) is a self-taught artist. He now lives and works in Miami, USA.

Drawing inspirations from found photographs, Aguilar creates suggestive and often unsettling scenes with raw graphite lines and supersaturated impastos. A strong sense of justice underlies the canvases—by basing his compositions on facts, Aguilar bridges past, present, and future social-political realities, addressing structural, institutional, and systemic oppression and many other issues.

Aguilar has exhibited in numerous exhibitions in USA and internationally. Recent exhibitions include “Fur & Flood,” SPURS Gallery, Beijing (2022); “Phantom Limb,” Night Gallery, Los Angeles (2022); “Sauvage Effete,” SPURS Gallery, Beijing (2021); “Closed Game,” Lyles & King, New York (2021); “Preludes,” Edel Assanti, London (2021). Recent group exhibtions include “South Florida Cultural Consortium,” Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, Miami (2023); “Recent Acquisitions,” Akron Art Museum, Akron (2022); “THIS IS AMERICA,” Kunstraum Potsdam, Potsdam (2021); “A Very Anxious Feeling: Voices of Unrest in the American Experience,” Taubman Museum of Art, Roanoke (2020).
